I would point out that Mr. Gilder himself has in the past offered to this thread an estimation of the performance of his picks. Steven, I believe he does NOT ever claim he doesn't recommend stocks. He just says that he doesn't offer judgements on the timing of buying decisions. He recommends stocks based on his analysis of the technologies he believes will rise to prominence in the future, without much if any, regard to current price or recent performance. He notes that his picks by no means represent the only stocks involving themselves with the technologies he believes are ascendant, however, he clearly attempts to pick companies he feels will lead the pack in a given niche- then leaves it to the reader to decide when to buy. Bahama, his wonderful success is more than luck, IMO. In fact, investing is more than gambling, if you are smart.
