..well..when I was a young lad..I can remember leaving my chewing gum safely stored in secretive places..not the bedpost mind you.....and..yes it was quite stale in the morning but still had a slight flavor to it. Of course, bedposts might possess flavor-draining properties...something to do with electromagnetic fields or something like that.

If the bedpost is wood, you catch it from momma. If the bedpost is brass, eeewww bitter. Enameled (for rich kids) or plastic (for the rest of us) bedposts are pretty safe.
