Sad fact is that by sounding the war cry, true or not, fair or not, they invoke the ire of many mainstream Americans. By nature, Americans do not appreciate the threat of lost freedoms. Although we often ignorantly and apathetically slide into more regulated, constrained government, when someone screams loudly it gets the attention of the mass mind and can cause serious misperception. A terrorist attack to create a wall of negativity.

This is why I detest AOL and the whole lot. They are not competing in this arena; they are using subterfuge to slime their way into the sweet spot they want, and derail the fast pace of cable BB deployment in the meantime. Any wonder why the stock price is down again?

I believe T/ATHM/others need to educate the masses too, and state loudly and clearly that any ISP is just a click away NOW. Moreover, -that for a fee any ISP may use the BB pipe- to counter the propaganda. Further, let them lead the offensive. Let BB providers state that AOL and others may have access, now and anytime they are willing to pay, fair market prices, for the right.

Firenzas post note from the Fool thread about the Judge was excellent and elaborates the real issues.

Sorry for the rant.
