Jenna, I've used 1, 2 and 3 period ROC for daily data scans but haven't used any for intra day so I can't be of much help. Guess I need to pick up that November issue and check it out. The RSI of the ROC sounds interesting .. is that in the same issue or did you come across that somewhere else ?

Jenna,

I tend to prefer the 2 dROC of the 4,3,2 stoch with exponential %D...EOD data. Rather than applying other indicators to the ROC, I like applying the ROC to other indicators.
Of course, if you supply me with a paid staff and generous research budget over a 3 month period, I'm sure I can come up with a killer system based on the indicators on ROCs idea.

Basically, at the level of TA we're discussing here, how you use it matters more than exactly what you're using. What I teach at my seminar is how to use TA. The material can then be applied to any "what".

And now Woody has applied the "how" to another new "what". GCOM and NEWZ came out of his newest piece of "what".

But I sure hope he keeps using the "old" version too:

Jenna, "they say this is more sensitive"

I don't work much with either ROC or Mass but the only way to check it is throw it up and see if it gets you in or out sooner/later, backtest and compare to the system you are using now. And since they are momo indicators derived from prices at some point you will find it all moot...>g<

besides trying to find the right indicators one can go crazy trying to plug in the right variables into indicators and I very much agree with Doug in that it is how one uses it...

have you tried StochRSI?
