"Split Announcement?? Surely you jest at under 125/share. Sustained price above 150 would be low point for a split IMO. That's not likely until the first quarter of y2k.
Premature statements that a split is imminent breeds disappointment in the company when the split fails to materialize, and with that disappointment, the share price drops off and often sharply.

Is this what you are promoting for AOL??"

Guardian:

Apparently, you do not know about AOL's historic pattern: splits in the 120's range, at least 3 of the last 6 splits occuring in October-November, and the fact that there is a shareholder's meeting this week when one of the proposals is to increase the autorized numbers of shares.

The split may or may not happen. The facts enunciated above give better odds that a split announcement is much more likely to happen than not.

I suggest you do a little dd before calling me a promoter. Hey, am I a promoter for AOL? You better believe, pal.

Maybe they are going to announce something big(ger) , the reason for increasing the # of shares 300% at next stockholders meeting.
And then do the split.
We just talk about possibilities here.
You, know, "what do you think(s)?"
