Talking about periods(and feminine hygiene products) is about the same as talking about any other personal hygiene body issue -I certainly wouldn't consider menstruation to be part of one's sex life. Are prostate problems part of your sex life? Jock itch? They may impinge on one's sex life but they are not per se one's sex life. Do you consider menstruation to be part of a woman's sex life? Because I find that rather odd. Do you think it is embarrassing to discuss menstruation and menstrual products- because you seem to equate it with talking about one's love life and I don't see the connection. I don't have a great deal of respect and reverence for either menstruation or my feminine hygiene products- but I do for the intimate relationship between my spouse and myself. Further, on SI I have read all sorts of stuff about men and their boners, and their prostates, and various other aspects of the issues surrounding men and their genitals. I did not think many of these men were discussing their sex lives- (although there certainly is plenty of that on certain threads)- but rather they were just discussing important male issues. Of course our discussion was designed to be uninteresting to a male audience- we did not wish to present a topic we thought men would be interested in- partly because we were annoyed with a few particular men. LRR (because of his extra ovary) always has interesting insights into women's issues- but most other men don't. And one could say that some of the discussions of sexual relationships on this thread are designed primarily to titillate. No problem with that- but some of us aren't looking for titillation, and don't want to watch it. Doesn't mean we are censoring anyone- but of course everyone is free to express an opinion even Coby, even me.
