It's not just steak either ... there are many things we 'consume' that
we may not really want to think of how it got here. How about essentially slave labor (children included) in third world countries providing 'designer' label clothing.

Sometimes it takes something 'offensive' to kick their butts out of their 'comfort zone'..

<<<enjoy your next steak!

Good post Tim,

Charles Bukowski wrote a good story detailing his experience in a slaughter house...I can't remember which
book it was now.

tim,
Sometimes the truth is offensive. Some people would like it sugar coated, and thats not you. Unfortunately our society has turned the farming industry into a big business, factory like slaughter houses.
Thinking of having a steak tonight,
rich

When I was 14 I worked for Kansas State for a year milking 6 cows that were on experimental feed. At the end of the year the cows met the exact same fate as what you described. The only difference was that it wasn't done at the pace you were used to. I have to admit that I liked the milking process a hell of a lot more than the slaughter.

good Sunday to you
No-----But it must be a little sad to recall that experience.
Are you a vegetarian now ? How do you suppose a person that does that everyday, day in and day out all their life cope with such a job? We are also having leftover steak from last nights BBQ.I don't think I'll pass your story on though.
take care dennis

Tim, not offended by your post, although I'm sure that some who don't want to know how things work, probably were offended. I remember watching (at a small age) as my grandfather would select a chicken out of the flock in the back yard, chop it's head off, and then watch it run around for a minute or so before dying.

Cool, man. My uncle used to work in a slaughterhouse. He stunk like a sonofabitch every time he came home. The smell of dead animals was also mixed with the smell of the scotch that he drank in the bar ( in Scotland ) before he came home.
BTW, I love steak!! Medium.
