El,
If the consensus among analysts is *only* based on the available public info, taking into consideration all remarks made by CPQ, and we can assume all info is on the table then I'm willing to factor in the "strange" behavior of this last week as evidence that the big money guys have pushed the stock price down in hopes of making a good bit by Wednesday. My estimate is *purely* based on a combination of hope for the best, a suspicion that Capellas understands that he has to walk the walk and the best way to do it now is to turn in an unexpected stellar performance in this quarter, even though more layoffs had to happen and more charges had to occur. I've seen so many dismal quarters in almost two years that IF he is as good as Rosen thinks, then he may pull a small rabbit out of the hat. So, instead of going with .08 or so which I think the market would absorb without fanfare, I'm thinking that he wants to show up convincingly at say .14. If MSFT says lots of software was sold and CPQ has been leading the pack then it may be a leading indicator (CPQ and GTW selling well) of which way CPQ announces.

Alta Vista announces a major change Monday; something else happens with CMGI (?); a convention in Houston on Wednesday to show off all the Non-stop stuff... the timing on this stuff is likely not to be accidental.

At any rate the next few days bring some excitement into the arena at least.

Vic, what are our averages so far? .08 and 22?

What's the prize for best guess?

What if SI participants outguess the analysts? Do we get interviewed in the future?
