Wasn't the word 'Arian/Aryan' originally coined to describe a language family, the one that more or less corresponds to the one now called 'Indo-European', where varying degrees of common roots can be traced back to Sanskrit? .... then the word got misused late in the last century to connote racial characteristics? ... and H.G. Wells sort of promoted the misuse in his Outline of History, then backed off in its revisions? ... something like this, i think ... recent thinking is that language and race do not follow as lockstep as that .. here's my fave language site - sil.org

AJ, according to the Encyclopedia Britanica, the aryan, or arian, people were a group of people with a common language that lived in ancient times(I would have to recheck the time period) who had a common language but, that is all that is known of them. We don't know that they were white skinned or what color of hair they had. They lived in the area of NW India and SE turkey which may indicate that they were not white, at all. They were accomplished horse raising and training people because some of the few artifacts found seem to indicate this. I have no idea where Hitler got the idea that they were as the norsemen (white, blonde haired, and blue eyed) but it seems to be a myth.

PS: I would imagine that any encyclopedia would have an account of them, if you want to check for yourself. T
