We have recently entered into a letter of intent with Herzog, Heine & Geduld, Inc. to offer Web-based equities trading on the Freerealtime.com Web site. Such transaction services will initially be aimed at qualified small institutional investors and may be expanded in the near term to include retail transaction services, however there can be no assurance that a definitive agreement will ever be reached....

Considering that Herzog is known more as a market maker than anything else, it would seem more likely that FRTI will rustle up the customers, while HRZG clears for them. Basically FRTI will try to get into the already overcrowded online trading game, where it has no chance of competing with more well known, better capitilized firms.
Herzog clears for many of these online firms so it's very unlikely they would do anything to upset their clients.

since Herzog is well-known and has a terrific reputation, this possible association w/FRTI would be the best PR they could ever hope for; sw
