Mike. I am sure you know the answer to his Gemstar question.
Many think we are heading for a totally changed high bandwidth vidio world where it will be possible to order any program we wish at any time and have it delivered to our sets by high bandwidth whether it is cable, WLL, or fiber. This supposedly could occur in say 5 years.
My question is whether IPG's or EPG's will really be important in such a a high bandwidth environment. Am I wrong, or are not these guides dependant on programs being delivered by networks in defined time slots? With unlimited bandwidth, wouldn't a simple newspaper listing of available programs by channel be quite adequate. I guess the question is whether high bandwidth is disruptive technology that could obsolete Gemstar.
