Well, my dad had been fighting it for 4 1/2 years. Three operations, chemo, and the tumor on his liver came back again. he didn't want another operation, more chemo and have to try to recover again. And he may not have survived the operation anyhow if the liver was too far gone. My mom had died a year and a half earlier too (heart attack). He was ready I guess. His choice. Sometimes I think he could have waited till we got there but I have no way of knowing what he was going through. And he was funny about us seeing him in the hospital too. He used to try to keep us from coming until he was home first. We always had a troubled relationship, but I have to admit he had a lot of courage.
