I never said I was an expert on China. In fact I ave very little stock data on China. But as someone pointed out to me after the fact. China had devalued earlier already.

Your opinion about a concerted effort to drive the price of gold down, is well laughable. If the recent statements by the ECB didn't prove to you that they wanted a higher price all along, what does? But they still must answer to the supply and demand equations as well. Well I think Bob Johnson has posted a lot about that recently. And I'm sure he and I don't agree on the price, but sure looks like a huge supply there. And before you think it's over, what about that 220 Tonnes of Gold that Russia is about to lease out. {I posted that Reuters article a while back}

There is no gold genie.
