I remember when the PowerPC hype was going around back in 1993. I heard that PowerPC's clean RISC architecture was going to be so fast, it's going to blow the old Pentium CISC architecture away. It was also going to be so fast, it could have emulated x86 faster than Pentium. I told those guys, "I'll believe it when I see it." I recall Moto trade magazine ads that showed "projected" performance of PPC vs. x86. The PPC was a nice exponential curve, while the x86 flatlined. Wish I could find a copy of that ad.
