Dear Skip: You wrote, "If we assume 50 cents per message that would be $250 per month."

The problem, or rather i perhaps should say the first hand experience i've just about always had with ASSUME'ng anything is that at the end of the day I generally made an ASS out of U and ME. In order to avoid doing that to anyone here, could i ask of you to do a little DD and find out exactly how much the average Omnitracs user pays per month? I'm just about to dash off to the airport and will be out for the next week plus. If you could help research the facts we'd all be appreciative i'm sure, not to mention better informed. We could then do some real hard cold calculations rather than bandying about my (perhaps faulty and maybe more likely!) recollection of the $30-40 Omnitracs ARPU. If not, I'll be happy to Dig In when I return to heaven (aka Prague) late next week. Thanks!

Best regards,
Geoff

American Mobile's Bundled Lease Program Offers Increased Flexibility to Transportation Industry Customers

Lease Offering Through Lease Corporation of America Makes Wireless Communications Affordable and Practical to a New Segment of the Trucking Industry

RESTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 11, 1999-- American Mobile Satellite Corporation (NASDAQ: SKYC - news) today announced a bundled leasing program that will make wireless data communications affordable and practical to a new category of small and medium-sized trucking firms.

The trucking industry is a key market segment for American Mobile and represents about one-third of the company's customer base.

The leasing program is offered through Lease Corporation of America (LCA) in conjunction with American Mobile's recent launch of MobileMAX2(TM) Multi-mode data messaging product. Starting at $89 per vehicle per month, the lease offering is 40 percent lower than competitor pricing for similar programs.

Under terms of the bundled lease, customers will receive MobileMAX2 hardware, monthly service, a network communications connection, software, and cabling for a comprehensive vehicle monitoring system, a quantity of 880 Automatic Vehicle Location reports, a five-year software license and a five-year equipment maintenance warranty.

``Large trucking firms have long enjoyed the benefits of wireless data communications offered through our Multi-mode solution,' said Robert L. Goldsmith, American Mobile executive vice president and chief operating officer. ``With the introduction of this flexible leasing program trucking firms of all sizes can benefit from the fleet management and monitoring made available through wireless data communications.'

``Bundled leasing will benefit both the trucking industry and American Mobile,' said Alex McCormick, president of LCA, ``and we are pleased to provide an accessible, innovative financing alternative for this product.'

American Mobile introduced MobileMAX2 in early November at the American Trucking Association Management Conference and Exhibition in Orlando, Florida. MobileMAX2 is the only fleet management solution available in an integrated equipment package that combines both land-based and satellite technology, using the fully deployed ARDIS© network owned and operated by American Mobile.
