I didn't see the interview and I'm trying to figure out the relationship of this to msft... and all I can come up with is... Jim Gray!!!

Former IBM Santa Theresa, inventor of the two-phase commit protocol for relational databases, now a key member of msft technical staff (at least was the last I heard)...

You mean Msft's dbms kernel architect interviewed Pete Rose prior to the game???
