OT (of possible special interest for anyone facing or considering cataract surgery):

I'm back online after not posting for most of last week due to cataract surgery -- and just wanted to offer some words of encouragement to anyone who may be looking at the same procedure in the near or distant future. I'm still going through a "recovery period," and there are still potential risks ahead -- but so far, I'm absolutely thrilled with the results. For literally the first time in my life I am now able to drive, use the computer, watch TV & movies and do a myriad of other things WITHOUT GLASSES (and until now, I'd worn really thick lenses). Almost a complete reversal of my visual situation, in fact. I'll probably eventually still wind up wearing thin glasses of some sort to fine-tune things, and now (for the first time) actually need reading glasses for close-up work. But everything from computer-distance-to-beyond is clearer than it's ever been.

Anyone considering cataract surgery should give it very serious thought, because there ARE some risks. But the actual procedure is quick & virtually painless, and if it works out well it can change your life. So don't let fear be a deciding factor...

Anyway, it's good to be back on-board the thread -- especially now that it's a lot easier to read everyone's posts...
