Athlon uses DDR to to communicate with the chipset now. The next iteration of AMDs chipset, supporting DDR SDRAM to complement DDR connection to the CPU, is expected this quarter.

I'd hunt down the link for you, but I've got to get some sleep :-(

I will not be surprised to see coppermine stay pretty much equal to Athlon in MHZ - but that should still allow AMD the "oxygen" (as Balmer so sweetly puts it) that it needs.
