Well, I guess it does get beyond making a simple rational decision on whether we are comprised of spirit or not. Maybe believing we are partly spiritual beings is something inherent in some people and can't be learned. (Or unlearned) Don't mean to offend sensibilities, but imo Protestants, Muslims, atheists, and other groups miss the point when they apply pure reason to their religion. Faith is inherently irrational. Catholics, pagans, and some Eastern sects understand this.
