Donït know about Cirrus Logic. In the Yahoo LSI thread they suggested that LSI may buy the spin off division from AMD. It generates 400 million revenue per year and may sell for 1.6 billion. I do not know anything about their product repertoire either.
A large purchase is a costly and risky thing. LSIs stock price did not jump when they bought for example Symbios, which was, as it turned out, a very smart thing to do. The street seems to look often on the effect on the balance sheet of the purchase, then they consider the risk, and if it works out, they start to like it.

If there would be some more smaller niche opportunities like SEEQ I would be more easy about it.
