I would love to have misunderstood, but I don't believe I did. Following on the post about the "entrenched members" expect the "newcomers" to pay homage to thread icons.. for months. Since I am iconoclastic in nature, I am unwilling, I guess.. ANd his latest, magnanimous (and suspiciously condescending) post about If and when we decide, we will welcome all the "great unwashed masses" with all points of view.. Well-- I fear I was not wrong. I wish I were. Feelings has ALWAYS had tons of points of view- always. And it has fallen apart before. (Nothing is new)I have known CGB forever, and feel safe in saying she would hate what has happened here and deplore that people will not let go of it, but seem dedicated to keeping the emotions going. THese things can happen- we all can lose our tempers, even over trivia- and say mean and cruel and stupid things, but the measure of maturity is in the ability to apologize and for the offended party to accept the apology. That isn't happening. I tell myself this is just a thread-- but it's funny how after so long, I have real "feelings" about this place. If you go back three years, you'll find descriptions of an actual house- with a kitchen where X and Janice and I made grape jelly meatballs one night, where X the Alien melted everyone in the living room, where CGB spent the night outside on the balcony watching a sunrise with a mysterious stranger, where we partied until the police came. It was a fun place that established the FUN, and THEN argued issues. It takes work and time to reach a level where real disagreement can take place comfortably. No one wants to take that time now. They just attack eagerly, no holds barred. I dunno- it's like sex on a first date? (ANd what was your name again?)
