BGR, obviously I can't speak for Luc or MB or anyone else. Just myself. Most folks wish I would stop discussing this stuff with you.

I don't agree with every word that anyone on SI posts. I don't agree with Luc every day, or anyone. In fact, I might even not agree with some silly thing that I myself post, if someone searched the archives of my posts. So I am not defending anyone's posting style on the Dell thread or this thread.

What I would say is that you could present your views on this thread and not put out as much venom as you do. Your views, I believe, would get more consideration if you did so. If you feel Luc or anyone else has a double standard or a bad posting style, or is simply wrong about facts or conclusions or opinions, so be it. It isn't anyone's charge set everyone straight in an argumentative way.

Why not just chill out now and then? So what if people are wrong? Like, "Hey did you watch the world series?". If Luc or anyone is wrong about the market, they will pay quite a price in their brokerage account.

Luc adds more value than I think you credit him with. People have more ability to discern whom they should listen to or follow than I think you credit them with. The "You're wrong, research shows" hard hitting approach should be tempered. If they're wrong, they're wrong.

We need a little more patience, decency, and respect for views that differ from those we hold as true. I agree you add value to the thread. But you also stir the pot more than you need to. Try to get along a little. I'm not telling you to agree with anyone. Just get a more tolerant posting style. Others that flame you should follow the same path, imo.

You are a riot! Why do you think all these lurkers, who want a balanced perspective on this thread, ALL confide in you and not to the general thread??? Could it be that you are really the only poster who wants a balanced view and are projecting your desires on unsuspecting lurkers??? rotf!

As to why I post in this thread, as many have enquired of me, I post so that a more balanced view is presented in this thread.

Are the posters here supposed to feel some sort of remorse for investors who can't make their own own decisions and take responsibility for them. Puleeeze.

This is not a thread by, for and of bears (as many regulars seem to claim), there is a general audience of investors who, while silent, still follow this thread. Some of them in their weaker moments may actually decide to follow the general advice forwarded by this thread (which, as the thread regulars in their present bitterness know very well, was and seemingly continues to be a financially unsound track to follow). I was there and did exactly the same in 1997-98. So there!

Nick

BGR,
I take it that the paragraph was directed at me (in part). I
welcome your opinion. I have always welcomed your opinion, and I
have agreed with you at times. I have never advised my friends or
family of an "impending crash" - but have pointed out that markets
do go down as well as up, and that the reward of remaining in the
market is at times not commensurate with the risks.

I have made most of my money in the markets with carefully selected
longs, I DCA into index funds, rarely short, and I was bullish until this last April, when oil prices began to rise.

My intention is not to "silence" others - that is the tactic of the
revolutionary. I have no desire to change others, and so I naturally
distrust those who desire to change me. Persuasion is a more
complex set of behaviors than simply calling someone "stupid" or
"wrong" and then arrogantly parading one's superficial learning.
And, I resent those who attempt to tar me with the wide brush of
militant bearishness simply because I choose to associate here.

At times I find your and PC's comments to be boorish and smug, and
this is what I protest. I hope you will remain, but the attitude
will go away. I have never referred to anyone as a "JOTT".
It simply isn't my style.

Have a good day.

AA
