China's September crude imports surge

China's crude imports rose more
than 15 percent to 27.1 million
tonnes in the first nine months of
1999 compared with a year earlier,
customs data showed on Friday.

The data showed that in
September alone imports totalled
4.286 million tonnes, higher than any
single month in 1998 and higher than
any month in 1999 with the
exception of March when imports
were 4.3 million tonnes.
