You have to break up the count. I hate those because I need a calculator and pen and pencil. Just as you did.
Count the numbers that have the .5 and do the calculation (x)(3)(.5) which = ?
Then count the 1 box by (x)(3)= ? Add the two ?'s and you have your answer.

Aby the author of "Point and Figure Charting" writes about using the smaller box size when you have prices BOTH above and below 20 using the horizontal price objective. Taking a conservative approach. You don't use a conversion like the Vertical Count, with ULTE you just figure it as under 20 and use the 1/2 point per box. I'm not good with these put maybe this helps. Check out page 90 in Aby's book if possible......Bruce
