Yeah, HDC, I too was intrigued. There was a "mirror" discussion during the NTAP cc when an analyst asked DW if he was competiting against EMC.. You may recall that DAN said that NTAP was competing more and more with EMC as NTAP's capacity grew. He also said the win rate is steady. (I hear its about 80%.) Dan also said that EMC may not have noticed NTAP yet, because the proportion of competitive situations, while high for NTAP, is low on EMC's scale.

We may have a situation classic in the "Innovator's Dilemna". Perhaps NTAP's NAS is a discontinuous innovation and EMC may not wish to focus down market as NTAP moves up market. Perhaps.

I can tell you this, for sure. NTAP is focused on EMC. Their reps are trained to combat them and there is a whole crew of ex-EMC sales engineers on the NTAP field sales teams.
