Well, Richard, you did an excellent (though apparently futile) job trying to share your knowledge of specimen gold and their superior pricing status comparisons to ordinary microscopic leached or enzymed or low-pressure recovered gold output. YES INDEEDY, Valentine's Eastern Oregon property contains specimen gold, and it is in the most fascinating of shapes and sizes. No two exactly alike!!! And, frankly, Richard, rockhound or not, one hasn't lived until they are taken deep within the belly of the earth and allowed to visit an entire wall 8' high wall of brilliant gold still firmly attached to Mother Nature's breast. Damn near blinding in its beauty as revealed by the miner's torch so I've been told. I'll have to wait until next year for the privilege of seeing that sight which I have been promised. Most of Roy's specimen gold I was looking at under 45x today (simply because I enjoy the beauty revealed under a microscope) of the larger specimens is so angular, that it is quite stunning and remarkable. While some people use the risky hydrofloride to strip quartz matrix from the specimen gold, the stuff I was viewing today had been picked clean by Mother Nature, much like as skillful hygenist removes plaque with a simple flick of the dental pick. Amazing stuff, this simple erosion process of vein gold. While your attempts at education may not have been appreciated by many on here, especially your targeted ignorant audience member, I appreciated both your time and effort at sharing another meaningful facet of Gold Pricing. Do you happen to have any pictures of that $29,000 specimen piece to which you referred in your post? Now, I'd LOVE to see that. While mostly Rock shows bore me, the prices I receive from selling specimen gold to dealers at these shows, does not. And, a particularly fine piece of specimen gold will be placed up on eBay by Roy and Pat later next week. I'll post the url of the auction where the scanned image will also be visible if you like. It is quite a nice piece. But, I've got to get them registered with eBay and all that other webstuff done first. O/49r webmaster: oregontrail.net
