Fez _____________________________________WESTERN STATE CONTRACTING ALLIANCE AWARDS DELL FIFTEEN STATE CONTRACT WSCA Members to Purchase Dell Products and Services Over the Internet ROUND ROCK, Texas, Oct. 20, 1999 -- Dell Computer Corporation (Nasdaq:DELL), the world's leading direct computer systems company, today announced the Western State Contracting Alliance (WSCA) selected Dell© to supply computer systems to the 15-state association. The cooperative purchasing agreement allows member city, county, education and state entities to combine their purchasing power in a single contract. Through Dell's first multi-state agreement, participating members can purchase the entire line of products and services and or receive support through a Dell Online Store created for WSCA. Non-members states can also participate in the WSCA agreement by electing to sign a Participating Addendum available through the WSCA Web site, www.state.nm.us/spd/WSCAmain.html. "WSCA created a way for its members to receive better value and increase their purchasing power through this unique multi-state contract. Its membership worked hard to bridge the gap between the states and their individual purchasing environments. Dell would also like to congratulate WSCA on its forward-thinking use of the Internet." WSCA issued its Request for Proposals (RFP) and conducted contract negotiations over the Internet. WSCA members can receive Internet-enabled support including automated detection, diagnosis and resolution through the Internet with Dell's OpenManage? Resolution Assistant. WSCA members may also use the Internet to purchase computer systems, track orders, receive service and support and use a variety of online reporting functions through their Dell Online Store. Online Stores and Premier PagesSM Service are customized secure Web sites that Dell creates for its customers. Customers use the private Web sites for easy access to organization-specific pricing, a paperless purchase order system, advanced help desk support and asset management information. There are more than 27,000 Dell Online Store and Premier Page Web sites. More than half of those sites have been created for public customers.
