Yes, Lynn. Here is my take on FDRY. They are capitalizing on products that fill the high-end niche (gigabit switching and routing gear). It is a nice niche to make money in right now because Cisco gear isn't the fastest right now. Juniper's M40 is faster, for instance.

However, the reason why Cisco isn't worried about this niche is because they believe that electrons aren't the future. They believe optics are. Thus, the acquisition of Cerent, which Sycamore competes in.

BTW, the entire market size for the products Juniper and Foundry specialize in is forecasted to be around $5 billion by 2003. Yet the combined market cap (from Yahoo) of those two companies is $22.406B (FDRY $9.514B, JNPR $12.892B).

So you decide. Is Foundry a good investment? My 2 cents is an unrestrained NO! At least not at these prices.
