Here's the handset sales. If this report is valid it actually shows handset sales went down in CDMA in the 2nd quarter. It also comments on how good GSM sales are going in China.

I've seen the report and am not sure if I believe the numbers....not the CDMA ones but rather the numbers for overall cell-phone sales. TXN recently revised their estimate on total cell-phone sales to 270m for the year. Since the 4th quarter is seasonally the strongest (by far) it seems unlikely that we already had 68m units shipped during the 2nd quarter.

In any case, I have always believed that GSM cell phone growth will continue to be strong. I think that it points the way to where the United States market will eventually go (the question is when?). The news from AT&T emphasizes the fact that much of that eventual growth in the US will be CDMA.
