JB - They do! Just go to the SI Navigation pulldown Click 'Customize' Click 'Options' Click "YES" in the last option down 'Display banner ads in StockTalk section?' Voila! You get to see advertisment all the time!

In fact I was thinking they should have advertising right here in stock talk. They couldn't put advertising on the StockTalk pages without risking loss of membership. Remember the outrage when the "Sponsored by" text link appeared on the old SI. This seems like a good compromise. If you venture anywhere on the site outside of the message boards, you'll see banner ads. Non-members see them even on the message boards. It's only those who have paid a subscription fee who get to avoid the flashing obnoxiousness of the ads. That alone strikes me as a good reason to pay.
