Jim, my wife ordered a DELL notebook 3500 p2 w/128 mb of SDram 2 weeks ago and received it within 5 working days. My wife, being the frugal person she is, literally called and/or visited every retailer in our area plus 2 computer brokers. No one came close to the price. And, she would have had to wait at least 2 to 3 weeks for delivery on anything comparable assuming, of course, she wanted to pay $500 more for the equivalent DELL notebook.

Jim, it is the art of under promising and over delivering or managing expectations.

>> DELL turned in an awesome performance this quarter. 58% YOY unit growth is hard to believe.<<

Dell delivers impressive sales and moves to the number one spot. The stock goes down almost a point. What a friggin disappointment. This stock is now one of those Rodny Dangerfield stocks that gets no respect.Tne news coming on a day when the damn long term bond keeps getting higher yield threw water on any fire. When are all these knuckle heads that keep thrashing investing going to be ignored> Did you have any trouble getting on SI today? Could not get on for quite some time.

Best Regards
Frank

Jim Re: "Meanwhile, Niles has moved on to internet appliances
rather than comment on DELL's performance.<g>"

Dan Niles is having a conference call on technology on October 28th sometime. Believe he has a long term attractive on both Dell and Intel. He's committed to lower Q3 and Q4 on both.
