Unfortunately it may take awhile for the Street to figure out what is going on....The following is an excerpt from an article on TheStreet.com.

thestreet.com

Rex Mitchell, a wireless telecommunications services analyst at Banc of America Securities who has a buy rating on the stock, said AT&T's revenues were stronger than expected. The wireless services operation grew 44.2%. That "leads the pack" when it comes to the competition, according to Mitchell. Mitchell hasn't done any recent underwriting for the company.

I heard the same type of stuff all morning on TV....."AT&T was led by strong growth in data and wireless". It will be funny to watch when they all wake up.

SSB is expecting 1.2m new subs for PCS during the Christmas quarter.

There are no shortages of CDMA handsets, and they are supposed to be in short supply?

if i spent as many billions on cable as armstrong
has, i'd be saying that wireless is slack as well...

will go down as one of the most short sighted blunders

the really important number is the one att doesn't publish.
the number of subs they lose each quarter.
almost everyone i know in nj is switching from the t to bam or sprint. t's service in nj is a joke. if you go to the highest point in nj right off rt-78 which is a major major highway, there is mostly no service. if you go further west on rt-78 to the penn. border there is no service. again
t's service is a joke. they hope to increase subs in the 4th q. i say fat chance.

handset shortage? balderdash. I am sure Ericy would have been tickled pink to supply ATT with whatever it needed during the last year.

I went into a PrimeCo store tonight for the first time in a long while, just to see what was going on. PrimeCo only has a few handsets on display, ThinPhone among them as well as the StarTac and the Audiovox (at $199). PrimeCo does not seem to hawk its own accessories as does Sprint; it carried Qualcomm accessories with PrimeCo label (but Qualcomm logo on the package) and only under Qualcomm label. The store had extended batteries for the ThinPhone but I didn't see any leather pouches for the phone. (I haven't seen any batteries for the ThinPhone at Sprint.) PrimeCo seems to be overstocked in accessories for the QCP1900 and 1920.
