Jardine to pick up rights issue in Tata Ind, maintain 20% stake.

TATA Industries Ltd is seeking fresh foreign equity from its partners - the Hong Kong-based Jardine Matheson group - through a rights issue. The rights issue, which is currently on, will be open till November 30 and the Tatas are expecting that the Jardine Matheson group will subscribe to the issue to maintain its 20 per cent stake through its subsidiary JSH (Mauritius) Ltd, Tata officials told The Economic Times. Great news! Lehar Basmati... way to go! Now, the Government of India should give up its idiotic attempts to "protect" its Basmati rice, whatever that may mean. Their officials have no clue as to what they are supposed to be fighting for anyway. Not that they are too unhappy about those periodic trips to the US of A to "serve their country's interests", of course -- they make use of the trips to indulge in their usual shop-a-thons at the friendly neighborhood K-Mart!<g>
