If JDX started investing in companies like EWD or for that matter any public companies similar to EWD that are already valued by the public sector I would personally run for the hills screaming. In fact if I thought for one second that JDX would just become just a holding company taking down private placements in public companies I would dump all my shares at the market and become JDX's biggest critic in a heart beat. However in numerous talks with the company I am fully convinced that if they take the multiple investment approach they will do it similar to companies like Softbank and ICGE.

As retail investors we can look at 100's of public companies and make our own investments decisions. If we want to give someone money and tell them to go out and buy good public companies that will grow we put it in something called a MUTUAL FUND. I have never owned a mutual fund and never plan on owning one. I do my own research and make my own investments.

However companies like Softbank, ICGE, CMGI, SFE, etc., got to the position they are in today by doing DD on 1000's of private companies near the start of their growth phase and investing in only the best 1-2 companies BEFORE THE COMPANY DOES AN IPO. After making an investment the company then takes an active role in the investment. I will repost the quote from ICGE webpage:

Our operating strategy is to integrate our Partner Companies into a collaborative network that leverages the collective knowledge and resources of Internet Capital Group. Acting as a long-term partner, we use these collective resources to actively develop the business strategies, operations and management teams of our Partner Companies

As retail investors we have no way of investing in the next success story several months before they do an IPO. We also don't have the resources to explore in detail 1000's of private companies and their potential. In addition, companies like ICGE, etc. take an active role in make sure the companies they invest in become success stories. If JDX does take this investment approach it gives investors a rare opportunities in my opinion.

Best Regards
KEITH
