''In this case it is impossible to imagine that the Air Force would have shot down the plane because it wasn't necessary to do,'' Bacon said."

Why don't I believe my Slick Government?

Two armed Air Force F-16 air defense fighters were placed on alert at Fargo, N.D., just moments before the Learjet crashed, but they were never ordered to take off, Bacon said.

Guess "impossible to imagine" means something different in Slick's DC. No doubt those F-16's were getting ready to intercept an air attack on NoDak by the EvilEmpire of Canada. -g-

In any event, condolences to the families and friends.

Wall St. hurts U.S. consumer confidence in October
biz.yahoo.com

NEW YORK, Oct 26 (Reuters) - U.S. consumer confidence fell for the fourth straight month in October, dragged down by worries over the volatile stock market and growing unease about America's economic outlook, the Conference Board said on Tuesday.

More consumers expect business conditions to worsen over the next six months and job availability to decline, and fewer expect incomes to rise.

The consumer confidence index fell to 130.1 this month, down from 134.2 in September and nine points below a near record high in June. Economists had projected a smaller decline in October to 132.8.
