More consumers expect business conditions to worsen over the next six months and job availability to decline, and fewer expect incomes to rise. The consumer confidence index fell to 130.1 this month, down from 134.2 in September and nine points below a near record high in June. Economists had projected a smaller decline in October to 132.8.
