I notice that, when reporting benchmarks, AMD uses a special patch for WinNT4.0 SP5. It's called "Write Combining Patch Q231949.patch". Is this something that is AMD specific? Do you know anything about it?

Elmer,

The patch, (Write combing) for Windows NT Sp5 is merely a patch which turns on write combining in the Athlon. Athlon normally start with write combining (to my knowledge) turned off at boot to be overly conservative. This flag merely toggles a bit in the CPU to turn on write combining.
