Agreed. Been there. So much easier with a little pre-planning. Had major problems due to no living will. Father-in-law was admitted to the hospital. We were told that his condition was reversible and suggested temporary life support. Because we believe it was a reversible situation we agreed. He laid in a coma for close to a month before he expired. When we put him on life support we were assured that we could stop support if there was no chance of recovery. That was the "carrot" and we agreed. He was now brain dead and it was time to stop the support, but we could not. We were lied to by the physician. Also something else to consider... body part donations. Funeral directors charge more to handle and prepare the deceased if parts have been donated, claiming it is more difficult to prepare the body for internment and greater chance for contracting disease. If you are thinking cremation, make plans in advance. Enough on this topic for now.
