Paul Re <<Intel's Pathetic P6 core is faster than the brand new shiny AThWIPE - a 7'th generation Core !>>

First, it is not really faster.

Second, Intel just did a launch which was the biggest in the history of this glorified company and the best they could do was match an already launched product from a much smaller competitor. Nothing to really brag about.

Intel has been pushing all its resources to the limit to match AMD which is probably sandbagging a bit.

Intel defense against AMD has been "ignore them and they will screw up". AMD has obliged till the K7, oblige no more. Intel is known to be extremely hard headed and not innovative but they have been doing great none the less due to great management. They must change going forward and I believe they will try.
