kapkan - <All but micron are Vaporware links, PB. Do your homework.>

I can go all the way through the ordering process. I don't see indication I will have to wait an inordinate amount of time to receive a system. I may be wrong, but I don't see it.

<Micron is based on Via chipset.>

I know that. HP and IBM will be shipping Cumine 733's with VIA Apollo also. Micron is evidently shipping them NOW. Not a total win for Intel , i.e., not Intel board / chipset, but still an outlet for 667 / 733 processors. In any event, all accounts have customers being fairly impressed with i840 as a workstation solution. I wish one of the independent sites would review it vs. K7.

Dell, et al, also using 3rd party chipsets for Cumine/Cascades 133 FSB Server configurations.

I will grant you a concession, that this does not appear to be the best launch Intel has ever done, IMHO primarily due to fallout from the product delays. Waiting to see how Intel will recover from a sales standpoint for Q4.

One thing that has not been broached on the thread is the mainstream and mobile segment launches. I do believe these will be deemed big successes. The Cumine in Mobile form is a great solution, and will only get better with Speed Step.

I am looking for Intel to take back ground in the Consumer Notebook space as well as continue to gain design wins vs. K62 in the mainstream /value desktop space.

Do agree pressure is on Intel to demonstrate recovery in the high end desktop space. VIA is apparently a part of that scenario in the near term, if Intel likes it or not.
