It has been discontinued. It was a a 3rd party add on created by Craig Richards. See:

Classic is better because it doesn't have the bugs that are in "new".

Bug 1. View replies is broken in new.

Bug 2. Search "this thread only" for a word that doesn't exist and you get back a list of all the recent messages in the thread.
