It's a line up some fine companies too, they kind you would like to see for HDR by now. This announcement also, fits into my comments about resentment to paying QCOM royalties.

Can you relay to your friends on SI that the CSCO
wireless technology appears to be for fixed
wireless applications, rather than for mobile
applications, which the Q's patents cover.
Here is a blurb from SI post #46182, last
paragraph.....

"In contrast to the other emerging solutions for mass market broadband fixed wireless access, VOFDM
technology is extremely robust in the presence of interference and multi-path fading that occurs in real life
wireless environments," said Dr. Henry Samueli, Broadcom's co-founder, chief technical officer and vice
president of research and development. "Our goal is to create cost-effective silicon solutions for mass
deployment of consumer premises devices. We have analyzed all of the technology alternatives for
broadband fixed wireless and this advanced solution is the only one that enables reliable communication in
obstructed wireless links where line-of-sight connections are not practical.

Although the news is still a bit distressing, it does not seem
to be the end of the world. Still a huge market for mobile
wireless and CDMA, IMHO.
