Microsoft, Intel, Home Depot, SBC to Be Added to Dow Average

New York, Oct. 26 (Bloomberg) -- Dow Jones & Co. said it's
adding Microsoft Corp., Intel Corp., Home Depot Inc., and SBC
Communications Corp. to the Dow Jones Industrial Average on
Monday, putting the two largest computer-related companies into
the benchmark for the first time.

The publisher of the Wall Street Journal said it's removing
Union Carbide Corp., Chevron Corp., Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.
and Sears, Roebuck & Co.
``Today's changes in the Dow Jones Industrial Average
represent a streamlining of its components on a sectoral basis
and are the culmination of a comprehensive review of the 30
stocks we undertook over the last several months,' said John
Prestbo, markets editor of the Journal.

Microsoft and Intel will be the first Nasdaq Stock Market
companies in the 103-year-old average, the best-known benchmark
for U.S. stocks.

Bloomberg LP, the parent of Bloomberg News, competes with
Dow Jones in supplying financial news and information.
