And well it should, IMHO.

The Axis was most certainly weakened, and their mobility reduced, by the bombing of the oil fields in what's now considered Eastern Europe. Their factories were badly damaged and war materials manufacture slowed. It didn't cause an end to the war in Europe, but it was a contributing factor, IMHO.
As to Japan...if one includes the dropping of the atom-bomb as part of the air war, then it had the ultimate effect.

I think our real concern was that USSR would make a separate peace with Germany, take Poland and Eastern Europe, and insist that Germany (w/o) Hitler fight the Western Allies while it was busy with Japan.
