he's missed the point.

My minister, in a sermon about the importance of parents spending
time with their children, mentioned Pete Rose's reaction to his
daughter's criticism that he hadn't been a good parent. When
asked about it, Rose said something like "I don't know how she
can say I've been a bad parent. Just two months ago, I gave her
a new Mercedes."

Rose's problems aside, I thought the interview was bizarre. It
turned a very emotional presentation of the greatest players of
baseball into anger toward Jim Gray, the interviewer. It was as
if he had dropped in from another planet and hadn't seen the
presentation.
