New Wireless Standard

My take is quite simply that everyone and their mother is working on new wireless standards. Big difference
between air interface standards and application standards. CDMA and TDMA took years to develop and
twice as long to be adapted by standard committees (8 years for CDMA). I think CSCO is hinting at more of a
fixed line or application specific standard. Big difference between standards like WAP and UDP browser that
exist 'on top' of traditional standards (CDMA, GSM and TDMA) and the actual ITU, TIA standards
themselves. Big push by all the big players to develop application standards that will enhance existing chipsets
iin third generation standards. Other examples include GPS and Bluetooth. So in short, I know that the CSCO
MSFT announcement is meaningless with regard to QCOM and/or CDMA. If anything it could prove helpful
to the wireless industry overall depending on which new features this venture and these additional standards
will bring.

Nice to be back. Been out on travel for several weeks. Let's get this thing to 240 by Tuesday so that we can
hit 300 by years end!!!
