That's fine - but ALL tech companies have SOME selling at ALL times by some of their managers for various personal needs (in the past, CUBE has behaved in this fashion too - until Nov. of 98).

Now, there is nothing - NADA. No selling or buying for a WHOLE YEAR. That cannot be rationalized using your "broadbrush" explanation.

FredE, I agree with your analysis. It may be that takeover discussions were being held in the past, and during that time there could be no insider buying/selling. The past is past. Things look so bright now that insiders are motivated to hold... and they may know about pending projects and new products that cause further motivation to hold.

Scientific-Atlanta to Increase Manufacturing Space in Juarez to Keep in Step With Increased Customer Demands
-- Facility Addition Will Enable Scientific-Atlanta to Increase Production Of

Explorer 2000 Set-Tops and Digital Interactive Network Equipment --

ATLANTA, Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Scientific-Atlanta (NYSE: SFA) announced today the Company will facilitate continued growth in both its subscriber and transmission businesses by adding a 110 thousand square foot expansion to its manufacturing facility in Juarez, Mexico, bringing the total manufacturing space to 330 thousand square feet at the facility. The expansion will enable Scientific-Atlanta to ramp up production capacity for its award-winning Explorer(R) 2000 digital interactive set-tops as well as the broadband access equipment needed to bring interactive services to the home.

Last quarter, the Company announced plans to double manufacturing capacity in Juarez to enable the manufacturing of two million Explorer 2000 set-tops per year by the end of this calendar year. That goal will be accomplished within the current manufacturing space. The additional space will position Scientific-Atlanta to quickly respond to demand beyond the two million set- tops per year which is expected during the next year. The new space will also be necessary to keep up with demand for the Company's broadband access equipment, especially with the significant increase in demand for the Company's GainMaker(TM) line of amplifier products. In addition, the expanded manufacturing space will allow Scientific-Atlanta to improve the manufacturing flow in the Juarez facility with a focus on reducing costs, improving quality and reducing cycle times.

"Our customers are installing the Explorer 2000 cable box in homes at a rate of about 25,000 per week. With more than 70 systems commercially deployed throughout the United States and Canada, we are now in that fortunate state of needing to ramp up our manufacturing capacity to meet anticipated demands," said Greg Taylor, Scientific-Atlanta's vice president of worldwide manufacturing. "As more and more consumers get a taste of digital interactive television, the demand from our customers rises. Scientific-Atlanta is committed to helping our customers launch these great services, and we need to keep in step with our customers' requirements now and in the future."

The company currently manufactures all of its digital interactive set-tops at the Juarez plant, as well as its 8600X(TM) advanced analog set-tops, RF amplifier product line and several smaller product lines. It is a key element of the company's global manufacturing capabilities.

Scientific-Atlanta is changing the way consumers interact with their televisions through its award-winning Explorer set-tops and end-to-end digital interactive network. As the gateway to a whole new generation of interactive TV, e-mail, Web-browsing, e-commerce and other services, the Explorer family is expected to be a powerful new, revenue-generating platform for network operators.
