Zain:

OT - This should be a start with vert being the business to business e commerce leader.

verticalnet.com

After vert there are some articles regarding CSCO and Dell with the impact the net is having on their business (the whole logistics and supply chain from ordering the product to the company contacting their suppliers to meet the orders.

Forbes and fortune have had some good articles recently.

Tim

which part of the business cycle?
startup ipo financing
new markets/customers
competition

flow of costs/revenues/profits
flow of information
flow of goods/services
flow of title/financing of above
divisibilities of markets/services+products
impact of after sales support/feedback mechanism

i would think that focusing on a wireless IPO or network IPO would allow you to address all of the above issues and mold your research according to your assignment goal

regards,
ynot :)

ps
don't forget the human element, it will be there after the www fades :)

It is a good and hot topic now. It will have tremendous influence on all aspects of business and consumer interactions.
There are several books on this topics under the disguise of Supply Chain Management (SCM). The latest fade is Zero latency Supply Chain Management. As of 1998, there are at least 220 of fortune 500 companies use SCM. Some well known
names include Dell, CSCO, WMT, Proctor & Gamble, HP, IBM, Sun Micro Systems, Compaq, 3COM etc.
According Anderson COnsulting there are at least 60 products and solutions providers (some notables include SAP, Oracle,
Sybase, BEA Software, i2 Technologies, Calico Commerce, Veritas Software, Manugistics, Summit Technologies, Sun Micro Systems, Netscape, Microsoft, etc.
A few references to start with:

Zain, my spouse who's in the industry recommends you check The Industry Standard website to help you get started. it's the journal for the internet economy.
Consider the 2 half-page ads in London Times today, p 15-16, for "first-e.com". Claims to be "independent internet bank, solely internet" based in blvd Haussmann, Paris. That site might provide some interesting history.
Best wishes in your impressive continued education process.

OT>>>Zain, nice to meet you, i hope your doing well, here...

(Please excuse my english errors,i am spanish and i try to do my best, but i made mistakes when writing,so be patient, thanks).

you have a list of links related to the Business Info systems, and as you can see you have more than 100 pages like the one i am pasting here, so any way you have a lot of places to surf, i hope you'll find what you look for.

altavista.com

IMHO, the way your subject is going to affect the global businesses is very close to you, furthermore, you have the answer in front of you and at the reach od your fingers, you know what i mean? you are already being part of that change, just look what you are doing, you are being able to ask for help to all over the world, i mean to whatever person could give you an apropiate answer, that's incredible, imagine only, that i am responding to you from the north part of Spain, others from the United States, maybe you are now in France or London, so there is no distances any more, there is no barriers any more, you can talk with people from all over the world, send them pictures, files, getting the same from them, so if you just translate that to the busnisess area, you get the answer very fast.
Today you are being witness of the new way of doing business, you have the best example, with your lovely dad, even if he has said that many times, it's incredible but not impossible what he does, he trades every day, "IN WALL STREET, AND IN CHICAGO" but being sit down in Pakistan, and in the very near future he could be able to trade from its mobile devices like phones or organizers with no wire, on the run, from the car, from the plane, while you are waiting for the dentist to take care of you, you should be able to buy AOL and sell a Put of SP500. So your father is making business, with the internet,so imagine if he is an individual, what a corporation could do? You have the answer for your question, you are part of it, and the answer is:
YOUR IMAGINATION IS THE LIMIT,YES IN TODAY'S WORLD YOU WOULD BE ABLE TO DO WHAT EVER YOU IMAGINE, well, with a litlle restrictions,ge,ge.

But, every time i watch a movie of the future on the space, i just take note of the new items we are going to have in our hands in the 6 years to come, because today we have the technology or better they were showing on the old movies, 15 years ago, and i am completely sure about the technology showing on films today like an impossible dream, yes, it would be our common life machines in next decade. So don't be fouled by those who says that's science fiction, no just think for a minute about the new chips that will be in the market in few years, they are working in them in a very famous university in california in conjuction with HP, they are talking about "Molecular chips", you know what i mean? chips the size of a nailhead, and millons times faster than the newest Intel version at 950mgz, or even the new from AMD at 1000mgz, those speeds will be seen like old ones and obsolet when the molecular chips are released, because you could do millons of operations in microseconds, is amazing, and the size of the pc's is going to amaze every body, our lap tops of today will be giants machines and heavys, nobody will like them anymore.

Well,i could go on and on and on, but i have to go out now. Later i will be in touch again, of course if you like.

Remember, the movies is the way "they" prepare the world to "their"
new technology, so pay attention and compare with the items you see on the stores. Just a humble opinion from an earthlink! ge.ge.

Take care, say hello to your dad and have a great day Zain!!!

Zain,..Re:.'internet and business information systems'

Listed below is a link to a story on the results of an on-going study by the University of Texas about the internet economy. I don't think the actual report, which was commissioned by CSCO, has been released yet. This report is issued quarterly and the last release, in June, was issued by CSCO. So I have included a link to the CSCO site as well in case the actual study is published there again.

Net expected to generate $507 billion in revenue

austin360.com
WASHINGTON -- The booming Internet economy has grown "at an astounding rate" of 68 percent since last year and is on track to generate $507 billion in revenue this year, University of Texas researchers are expected to report today.

Good luck with your assignment.
