I understand the difference between DSL and TDM use of the copper pair. I also understand the advantages of cable over these technologies. I don't understand the reasoning that copper in areas where a lan could be easily used to replace the twisted pair and deliver full services immediately is a better choice than the DSL technologies used over copper in the ground, for example. The costs of equipping cable for full service over long outside plant distances v. using DSL for a while, is a completely different comparison to household wiring replacement. Household is a cheap replacement comparatively. I also see why Tuts is heading into the loop because it follows my model perfectly.
