"I hold it lightly, but I hold it proudly!"

my feelings exactly. And by the way, far from being upset at Franq's skepticism, I welcome it, because a) we all fall in love with our investments (especially our winners) even though we're not supposed to, and b) it can be the source of good questions.

My basic reasoning on JDSU is as follows: they are a well-run company that has a dominant position in a market (optoelectronic components) that should continue exploding upwards for the next several years, since it is crucial for providing greater bandwidth (a trend we all know is unstoppable). Now, I personally don't have the technical knowledge to understand everything JDSU does. But--like the discussions of QCOM and CDMA--everything I read by people who do seem to know what they're talking about seems not just positive, but extremely so. My JDSU position is not as large as my QCOM position, nor even (now) my GMST position, because I believe those young gorillas are just as promising and even safer investments. But I see no reason to avoid a robust young King like JDSU, and have been quite pleasantly surprised by its fantastic run over the last few months...

DownSouth,

<< I jumped on JDSU as a result of UNPH discussion here some time ago and have been re-enforcing this winner all along >>

Same here <G>.

<< JDSU is a King >>

It sure is. I am not sure, but I think it could potentially become a gorilla. Trying to learn more about "fiber", and JDSU, and their IPR, and value chain, and potential future acquisitions.

<< I hold it lightly, but I hold it proudly! >>

I'm holding it "tightly" lightly and very proudly as well.

I was also just thinking that without this thread I never would have heard of or invested early in Gemstar ... probably would not have started following discussions of embedded OS (WIND) so closely, would have invested in phone.com (the RM advises you leave money on the table when you play the GG which I sure did with this hot potato) and exulting in the paper profits from same and ..........

Hi DS,

I couldn't agree more. I also jumped on the JDSU bandwagon as a result of this thread and with today's close am up about 75% on my original take and have added more since. Will continue to add on pullbacks. Thanks thread for the lead.
