Paul,

To work the link function, click on one of your detail windows. Then, go to the "Details Options" menu and select "Properties". In the Properties menu, select "Link" and then click the "Options" box to select which windows to link to.

One note on this, the window list that shows up will only reflect windows that are saved in the layout. Therefore, it is suggested that you do a "Save Layout" before trying to setup a link.
